Be Nourished in Nature
Do you spend time out in nature regularly?
When was the last time you went outside and had the beauty of the natural world all around you?
When you go outside in the midst of nature, a sense of awe and wonder can bubble up inside you as you feel embraced and nourished by the incredible beauty.
You may hear the chirping of insects and the rustling of leaves. The gurgling of water in a nearby stream and the call of a mourning dove from a grassy field.
Today, I invite you to quiet your mind. Don’t let your thoughts have power over you today, like a wild horse who controls the rider. Take care to calm and tame the mind, choosing the thoughts that enter and dismissing the ones that are disturbances.
Your feet find stability in the solid earth as you walk, and you can reach out to touch the tall, soft grass and smell the blossoming flowers. You might sit down for a rest on a sturdy boulder and gaze into the azure blue sky above, watching the cottony clouds float by.
When we have these experiences in the natural world, all our senses are enlivened as we soak in the beauty around us.
We often feel privileged to be alive in the midst of such a glorious creation!
I invite you to let this beauty and majesty live within you today. Go outside into nature and be nourished.
And if you can’t get there today, sit for just a couple of minutes, and close your eyes. Remember a time you were awestruck by nature? Imagine you’re there, and let it embrace and nourish you today.
And, as you return to your daily activities, don’t forget that you too are a beautiful creation!
