WEEK 124
God, what is your guidance for me today?
Today…
test yourself.
Just be who you are…
and watch.
Watch yourself be you.
Listen to yourself…
hear how you talk to people.
See how you treat others.
Watch your thinking
and observe the ebb and flow
of your emotions.
Notice if you like what you hear,
see, think
and feel… coming from you, through you.
If not, then consider changes to work on.
If yes, consider where growth would serve.
Above all, be gentle with yourself…
today.
Evening Reflection
It is a unique quality of humans that we can observe ourselves. It is a reminder that we are more than our bodies, more than our thinking minds. We are spirit. And with spirit comes the quality of awareness. It is this awareness that allows us to pull back and watch ourselves live.
I have lived and have been on the spiritual path for many decades. I have seen myself grow and become. Become what? A better person. More patient, kind and loving; more compassionate and less judgmental, aware of ego’s traps and tricks.
Though I am grateful for my progress as an incarnate being, there will always be places of growth that affords me the opportunity to become a better version of myself. Here is where the encouragement to be gentle with yourself helps.
And it helps to pray. We do not always have the strength to lift ourselves to a higher place of being. The ego is masterful at finding ways to limit us as it seeks to remain the God of our lives.
However, grace is always available, if we ask.
Connecting to Jesus Christ, for instance, allows us to access the divine energy of his love and spiritual strength. It is a powerful way to gain aid in our quest to become better people.
Being aware of the ego’s hold on us gives us the chance to access our willingness to do the work to lessen its power on us. The choice is ours; ego or spirit. The more ego wins, the more precarious our advancement. As spirituality becomes more and more our choice, we allow our souls to expand into the realms of divinity where grace has the power to transform us into more of the divine beings we actually are.
