WEEK 101
God, what is your guidance for me today?
Stay aware of your intention.
In your conversations and behavior
remain aware.
Watch your ego and see how it wants
to tell you what to say and do.
Let your awareness see the difference
between your ego and the intent of your
higher spiritual self.
Your decisions will reveal which part
of you is expressed moment to moment…
higher spirit, or ego?
If you notice ego winning more often,
pause to reset your intention…
so that all you say and do may emerge
from your divinity, from love, compassion
and goodness.
Breathe in love…
Breathe out negativity.
Breathe in love…
Breathe out negativity.
Breathe in goodness…
Breathe out love…
Breathe in goodness…
Breathe out love…
and extend that love to all…
to all…
in all you say and do,
today.
Evening Reflection
Intention drives our spiritual direction. When Scripture talks about God looking at our hearts, it is talking about our intent. Intention is the rudder that determines our speech and actions.
My intent in life is to love. But it doesn’t mean I can’t get side-tracked at times. I surely can. When I am not feeling well, my intent can become something like, “Leave me alone.” I get irritated more easily and become less loving. But I also catch myself more quickly. That is the blessing and grace of spiritual growth. I can unhook from the world of me, and observe myself, which allows me to then reset my intent.
I was talking to someone today who told me they pick fights with their boyfriend, but they do not know why. I read today’s guidance to them, and while reading they made many moans and groans of self-recognition – of what they are not doing. We talked about getting so hooked into the world that you don’t stay present to what you are doing – or not doing. We were able to talk about ways to expand the context and perspective so that they realize they are not “of” the world even while being ‘in’ the world.
When you can do this, you can use your spiritual will to trump the ego, which does not want to acknowledge your divinity. It wants to rule your intentions. Staying aware and present, we can say, “Not today.” We can do this every day – for as long as it takes for ego to become a smaller force within us.
