WEEK 198
God what is your guidance for me today?
Always follow the leading of Spirit.
It is never wrong. It cannot be.
It is the Presence that is ALL IN ALL.
Look within… listen within…
and you will know what the leading is.
Your heart and soul are the lines of
Communication.
Your mind and will must make the
decision to follow through.
Have faith to follow Spirit
where you do not have the
eyes to see.
Have trust to actually move
and act and leap without knowing
where you will land.
The journey with God is a
deep, rich, intimate adventure.
You are always cared for and your
spirit protected.
Follow where Holy Spirit leads, today.
.
Evening Reflection
Following the Spirit is indeed an adventure. Sometimes it is smooth and easy and at other times it can be a roller coaster ride of unexpected twists and turns.
For instance, I felt spirit lead me to call a potential faculty member of the seminary I am with. He had given me times of availability, and the faculty had a newly scheduled meeting coming up tomorrow. I wanted to see if I could connect with him so I could bring up his course in the meeting. I felt Spirit nudging, saying… call him now. I did. He picked up. And we scheduled a talk for an hour and a half later, coming up today soon! I also called up someone whose email kept bouncing back. Again, I felt Spirit telling me to call. That person picked up. We spoke. And now they are coming to a new tap dance class I teach. Another example of moment-to-moment leading?
Then, I wanted to go work out. However, Spirit led me to call my mother. She picked up. We talked about my coming to see her and about me preaching at the church my dad had pastored. She told me of the new church pianist and how they played her favorite song, “Walk With Me” and how it moved her. I responded, “Wow”. I told her I had dreamt about that song last night and decided I would practice it today as part of a class I am developing! We both marveled at the fact that the song has been in our respective consciousnesses at the same time, especially us being so far apart geographically. So, now I will hold off working out ‘til I have worked out the sermon and the many connections coming in. And… it is only 1:00pm! I can’t wait to see how the rest of the day unfolds.
(Later) 10:00pm
Let me say that it would be way too long to recount the hours and all that has transpired. But let’s just say I was led to write a sermon I didn’t expect to write until several days from today.
Also, I taught a tap dance today to an 82-year-old man and his 70-year-old wife – that I didn’t expect to teach them. They love Gene Kelly and were the only students that showed up for a lesson today, so I created a tap dance to the song, “Singing In The Rain”. It was so much fun, and they got all the steps.
It was that kind of day… of following where I was led and living into the what, without needing to know why. Every day may not be so tightfitting with divine leading… but if you have the eyes, ears, and heart to receive guidance, and the will to let go and follow, then that is the true adventure and wonder of the interplay of divinity and humanity.
