Spring is in the air and what a wonderful time to take a day or two to listen. Truly listen.
Today, I invite you to speak little, do less. And listen.
Listen to everything that comes into your path today. Listen to the cars drive by. Listen to the voices of the young children playing outside.
Listen to your colleagues and loved ones speak. Listen to those on the radio sing.
Listen to the birds flapping their wings over your head and the bees buzzing in the bushes near your house.
Then take a moment and listen even more carefully.
Maybe you can hear the sap in the trees flowing as the earth warms up in spring. Or the ground thawing and the plants pushing through the soil.
Maybe you hear the pitter-patter of water drops land on the leaves of a nearby plant.
Listen to the gentle breeze blow through the branches of the trees and even through your hair.
Listen to the rocks that sit so quietly with great strength year after year.
Then when you are ready, turn from the outer sounds of the world to listen within.
Listen to your breath going in and out. Listen to your heartbeat and your blood pumping.
Listen to the quiet thoughts that are hidden within you. Hear what’s being voiced from the deepest realms of your being.
Know that you’ll hear just what you need to hear today. And that maybe there is something that’s waiting to be heard just by you today!
Then take a few moments to quiet your mind and close your eyes.
When you are in a calm, peaceful space, what is it you hear?
Is this the sound of silence? Or maybe the sound of a greater universe?
We live in a culture where we like to SEE things with our eyes and we also love to TALK. To take some time to listen, truly listen, is a treasure waiting for us to discover.
Take time to discover this treasure today!
