Week 40
God, what guidance do you have for me today?
Be a good caretaker of your body.
It is through this gift that you
are able to share who and what you are
and give of your talents and your creations.
Be a good caretaker of your body.
Use moderation.
When great exertion is called for,
so is great rest.
Eat and drink conscientiously, with gratitude for
your life, your physical being and for the food
that replenishes your strength and vitality.
Be a good caretaker of your body.
It is a temple housing the very
forces that cause the world to be.
It is a home for love.
It is divinely created and given to
you for a time… for
learning, growing, sharing
and becoming.
Be a good caretaker of your body.
Week 40
Evening Reflection
I attended a wake today of a man who was like a second father to me. Seeing his body was a reminder that it is our house, our home for a time. He was 86 years in that body.
We are in our bodies on borrowed time, as flesh and blood are not immortal. But what precious time it is! To be born a human is a rare gift of the highest, most profound magnitude.
Our time may be predictable but not certain. Taking care of our bodies is a response to our acknowledgment of it as a gift to us. We are a spirit and we have a body. The body we cast off, but the spirit lives on. Take care of the body you were born in… it is the temple of your holy spirit.
