WEEK 143
God, what is your guidance for me today?
Watch…
for the movement of My Spirit
in your day and in you.
It could be a seeming coincidence
that is much more. Look deeper.
It could be a thought about something
or someone that has a quality and energy
that makes it stand out from other thoughts;
one that you should perhaps pursue or follow-through
on.
It could be an excitement within
that is sensed upon hearing about something
of interest to you, your work, or your life.
Remember…
I know where you are and how to
reach you.
But you must watch…
not as a distraction to your day but as a
witness of divine unfolding.
This unfolding is universal and yet
very personal. There are signs and
wonders and blessings waiting
just for you.
Today…
watch.
Evening Reflection
One of the great wonders of living spiritually is the witness of God’s blessings unfolding in our lives. Even in the toughest and gravest circumstances, God’s love is with us, and blessing can be present if one has the eyes and heart to see.
Today, in an otherwise ordinary day, the encouragement to watch served me well. I was listening to the radio while driving and heard an interview with two men who were running a theater company in my area. I recently finished a script and only in the last week began thinking about where this show might have an opportunity to be staged. This company seemed perfect and seemed to show up coincidentally. Then, I realized someone had mentioned this company to me a month earlier; someone who knew I was close to being done with the writing. I looked on my phone where I had stored the name and there it was. Of course, now that the watching has occurred, the follow-through is next.
If God watches over us, then God watches us. Not as an anthropomorphic physical being, but as the Supreme Spirit of all life, omniscient and omnipresent. And if God watches us then God knows where we are and can get to us. Not just through angels coming to declare God’s message, which most of us do not get to experience… but as a subtle mover and shaker within our normal day-to-day. We can certainly miss God’s communication with us. It is up to us to pay attention – to watch. God is always loving us and is always with us. It is we who must keep our attention and focus on the reality of God’s presence with us and in us, and in the unfolding of all we are and do. This is where the watching happens.
Today, I also was led to make a phone call I did not want to make. I knew this person could give me some insight into several questions I had but he had sort of dropped off the planet months before where he had said he would get back with me soon.
After sitting through my feelings, I just decided to follow the nudge that was not going away. I called. No answer. Whew! I tried.
But an hour later the nudge came back. Try again. I did… and he answered. Turns out we had a terrific conversation, one that I needed. He even apologized for his silence (too much work) and thanked me for my patience.
This guidance helped to focus my attention on seeing, feeling, and sensing God’s inner guidance. Upon following it I witnessed divinity unfolding in the conversation and actions of others.
To watch divinity is an exercise in seeing with your whole being. To go from exercise to a spiritual practice is to watch on a daily basis. Then, perhaps it will become a normal part of the spiritual consciousness.
And then… WATCH what happens!
