WEEK 129
God, what is your guidance for me today? How would you have me live into the day? How may I deepen in spirit?
Surrender.
Surrender.
Surrender
Surrender all things to God.
This practice will deepen your spirit.
Your ego will challenge your doing this,
but the more you surrender all to God
the more expansive you become as a
created being.
Let. your worldly opinions go and simply
give love today.
Let judgements be surrendered to the Only
Judge… and simply love… remembering all are
doing the best that they can.
Surrender your angers, doubts, frustrations,
worries, hopes and dreams to Divine will.
Surrender your job, money, home, children
and all you own to Divinity’s love and care.
Surrender you to God.
You will not die. You will not become useless.
You will become a living vessel of good
and holy works.
You will become a home for the Christ spirit.
For God. For Me.
Surrender…
and be filled.
Evening Reflection
The task of spiritual work on a personal level is to lessen the ego’s hold on us. Ego is like a child that wants all the power, control, and praise. It does not want to share. It was built into humanity and needed when spirituality on our planet was not as available during the early days of humanity’s long evolutionary journey.
The spiritual part of our make-up has superseded the need for ego, much as we don’t need our tonsils or appendix. But ego does not want to be superseded. And it will fight to make us think we need it. It hooks us into the world in a powerful way and tries to make us think the world is THE real thing.
Christ, the Buddha, the Bhagavat Gita, and the Upanishads, along with earth’s great mystics throughout the history of time, have all told us the world is an illusion and that there are realms beyond it that are the true reality. Ego cannot understand this and does not want to.
It is by grace, willingness and our spiritual will that we can grow up enough to say to ego, “There is another way I want to live.” Then we begin to see ego as a child throwing tantrums. If we are strong we can grow past ego’s judgements, comparisons, biases, prejudices, desires, and divisiveness.
Today, as with any day when focusing on lessening ego’s grip, I had some good moments of being free of ego… and moments when ego raised its voice in me and tried to exert its way. Being aware of what is happening helps. Then, the choice becomes whether to let ego win or allow God’s grace to intervene and serve us. We do this by intention and being willing to let go and let God.
I did that some today. And it always feels good.
But ego lurks.
I will try again tomorrow.
