Week 60
God, what guidance do you have for me today?
Today,
as you go about your work and other
activities,
remember that your purpose in it all
is the growth of your own soul.
Not only are you to faithfully give
of your gifts and talents where you
are serving life as a divine being…
you also serve humanity by
continually growing in your
personhood.
Today,
stay aware of how each situation,
circumstance and encounter may be
an opportunity to share who you are
on a soul level, and also to receive.
This divine exchange. if paid attention to,
can be the catalyst of your
spiritual growth.
Watch your instincts, emotions and
reactions.
Exhibit self-control, love and compassion,
for these can usher in grace.
Today,
practice being the master of your soul.
From the inside out, pay attention to
your breathing. Breathe into all you do.
Watch yourself live.
Watch yourself living.
And with the divinity of your being,
let your soul pay attention to itself
and see what there is in today’s
living of life…
for it to give… and for it to receive from you.
Okay?
Week 13
Evening Reflection
Well, this guidance began testing me almost as soon as I wrote it this morning. I had a chance to sleep in, and did. When I got up I showered and dressed and sat at my desk to write. I was all set to dive into my thoughts when my wife came up to let me know what she was about to do. After her list of errands were communicated it was clear that I could serve her by going along. I gave up my agenda and watched my own feelings about it. Sometimes when I am set to do something, I can feel like I just want to do what I want to do. But I noticed my soul’s flexibility and was happy to know I would spend the next several hours in the company of my wife, helping to make the chore of errands less of a chore. So, instead of being home I was out and about. The opportunity to watch my instincts, emotions and reactions was non-stop. From jockeying for parking spaces at the grocery store to near shopping cart accidents in the over-crowded store, I watched my level of self-control, frustration, politeness, genuine-ness about my politeness, etc. I was watching myself live and watching myself living. I realized those were two different things. For me, watching myself live has a larger context. Watching myself living is the specifics in each moment. My soul was paying attention to itself and my mind was taking it all in. I know this may sound weird, but I enjoyed the ability to do all those things… and shop at the same time!
Today, life gave me some great moments to see how I treat others common, public spaces. And I believe I gave life some good responses. And life can always use some good responses, don’t you think?
