Feedback from Survey
The following are anonymous responses from a survey David sent to his clients, asking them to write about how his services as a spiritual coach-counselor helped them.
What problem or pain did I help you solve or heal?
You have helped solve everything – from losing a tooth as child, to losing loved ones, and even jobs. You are very instrumental in healing and solving many problems, and currently right now helping to make choices for my next step in life
What did you most like about working together?
You are active and engaged as a listener, and your wide life experience and ability to stay helps me feel comfortable sharing with you
What were a couple of your big take-aways from working with me?
New perspective, information, and at certain levels of comfort
What, in your view, sets my material and approach apart from the myriad other coaching/transformational programs available out there?
You work with a level of empathy that lets me feel heard and understood, and you are genuinely non-judgmental in your thoughts. I also think the eclectic life you have led allows for you to draw from your multiple experiences and add depth to the perspectives you can offer that not many can do. Your’e logical and also spiritual, and I think a balance of both is necessary
What problem or pain did I help you solve or heal?
Dealing with the death of our son.
What did you most like about working together?
Seeing and understanding how your faith guides your life.
What were a couple of your big take-aways from working with me?
Your capacity for spiritual curiosity is comforting, and how much of a normal, everyday kind of person you are as well
What, in your view, sets my material and approach apart from the myriad other coaching/transformational programs available out there?
You convey a sense of speaking with, not at, your audience. You share your relationship with God, but you don’t preach or lecture.
What problem or pain did I help you solve or heal?
You have helped me come to peace with small daily challenges that arise, and have helped me learn how to keep things in perspective as I transition from my 20s into 30s. Your guidance has been helping me maintain more balance in my life, and continue to grow spiritually and mindfully.
What did you most like about working together?
You have a kind and calming presence that brings me joy. Your stories are so simply told but contain so much wisdom. I love that you can talk about serious things but still find humor and bring laughter to any conversation. Working together is an uplifting experience that leaves me feeling refreshed, hopeful, and at peace.
What were a couple of your big take-aways from working with me?
One of my main takeaways from our lunch was understanding that it’s never too late to make a change and to keep growing. Your story of going back for your phd in your 40s stuck with me — your mom’s advice to you that in 3 years (or really however many years) is not so long in the scheme of things. One of my main challenges right now is trying to find a career (and generally live my life) more in line with my values, but I sometimes get caught up in feeling like I should be in a certain place by a time. Your stories and guidance helped me realize, in a way that really stuck with me, that everyone is on their own journey, however long it takes.
What, in your view, sets my material and approach apart from the myriad other coaching/transformational programs available out there?
You provide a unique way of guidance that I think is rare to find, even as therapy and coaching has become more ubiquitous. Your way of sharing wisdom through personal stories makes it much easier to relate to and apply to my own life. You have a simple, graceful way of distilling things down to what really matters, and of helping people see whatever they are working on through a different lens. While traditional therapy seems to be more one-sided and the therapist mainly listens, and life-coaching is more advice-driven, you provide a happy medium between the two. While I don’t consider myself very religious (in the church-going sense), I also appreciate the spiritual guidance you provide. I feel you are very rooted, and are sharing lessons not only from your own life, but from generations before.
What problem or pain did I help you solve or heal?
I sought Dr. Sharp’s counsel recently regarding the death of one of my idols Kobe Bryant and as to why someone like him and a 13 year old child would perish when so many seem to be walking the earth that seem to have absolutely nothing to contribute. Dr. Sharp’s answer was so heartfelt and (Sharply) crystalized that it help to ease some of my pain
What did you most like about working together?
Dr. Sharp never comes at you from a level of he’s way up here and you’re way down there. He is honest enough to say that he struggles yoo.
What were a couple of your big take-aways from working with me?
Dr. Sharp has the ability to come to you with a curiosity that is uniquely engrained in his wise counsel. He is an everyman…here to serve everybody.
What, in your view, sets my material and approach apart from the myriad other coaching/transformational programs available out there?
I believe once again it is Dr. Sharp’s curiosity that is so lazer focused on your particular set of circumstances that this sets Dr. Sharp apart completely AND if he doesn’t have the answer to something he’s honest enough NOT to b.s. you.
