WEEK 200
God, what is your guidance for me today? How may I be a useful servant of your Divine Will?
Go about your day with kindness
in your heart and joy
in your soul.
These can carry you far.
Why?
Because they contain other virtues.
You cannot be truly joyful without love,
and kindness contains compassion.
Love calls for seeing all as equal;
for seeing every created being, all
animals and nature as divine.
Compassion asks us to extend
our understanding; to put ourselves in another’s
shoes and feel what they are feeling.
Joy comes from letting go of judgements,
and receiving the love of Divine Presence.
Today, as you are kind and joyful,
you will bring God to others in all
you do, all you say…and in your very spirit.
What a gift you give!
Evening Reflection
When I first sat to write today’s guidance, I got only 4 words… “Go about your day.” I wondered if this was just me thinking or Spirit in me guiding my thoughts? I decided to trust what was coming, but I wondered where this was going?
I had no idea what was coming. It is an adventure of divine unfolding to write these guidances, waiting for Spirit to infuse my mind with some of grace, wisdom and inspiration. And it never fails to do so. I may sit for half an hour before it comes. And sometimes it comes before I even sit at my desk. But it comes.
Today, kindness and joy came. These are qualities even small children can exemplify easily. And that is the point.
Jesus reminds us that unless we are like little children, we will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. One of the things children do naturally is to be joyful and kind. We, as adults, when we learn how the world really is, must work to retain these qualities rather than live out of fear, self-protection, and mistrust. Joy and kindness set us free again. It releases us to be loving, trusting, generous and good.
It can and does carry us far… in life… and in a single day. What a pleasure to experience this simple, profound combination – kindness and joy.
Maybe I will incorporate this tomorrow as well!
How did you do with today’s guidance?
