The Pearl of Patience
Patience is a virtue, yet that’s easier said than done! It’s a practice we need to cultivate again and again.
Patience is that pause that happens between an experience and a reaction. It’s the ability to be calm in the midst of circumstances that arise that may be different from what you imagined. It’s a time to remember that everyone’s doing their best in every moment. And so are you.
You may need to have patience with another person or outside circumstances in your life. Or you may need to learn patience with yourself!
To practice patience today, when a moment arises where you need patience (I’m sure you will have one!), pause for a moment and consider:
What’s arising within you? What feeling or sensation? Where is it?
What thoughts are going through your head?
How do you feel at this moment?
That pause to be present with the moment will help you cultivate the practice of patience. You’ll be better able to allow compassion to arise and let go of those things that are not in your control. You’ll begin to have less stress and frustration.
Patience will begin to grow within you.
