WEEK 105

Creator of life, what guidance do you have for me, today?

Celebrate!

Today… all day… celebrate your life.

Honor your journey… all you have been through

to be you, now.

Remember the occasions you have

risen from the depths; whether by strength

of will, hope, faith, or grace…

and celebrate.

Do something to mark this day of

honor and remembrance.

Wear something that symbolizes your triumphs –

your resurrections even.

Write a chant for you to think on and whisper

through the day.

Let your eyes twinkle with a joyful thanks

that, “I am still here.”

Let your soul sing… and your spirit dance

…for those who have gone on… for those

to come…

and for those who accompany you now.

Celebrate!

… and do not forget The One Who

Made It All Possible.

Evening Reflection

A person can celebrate their life anytime. You don’t have to wait for birthdays. It can be by yourself, for yourself, even if you are with other people.

I had a secret celebration with God today. I found a beautiful cross in an old collectibles box. It is made of a dark stone with glittering crystals within it, which made the cross look like the night with bright stars shining. I had bought it on a trip because of its beauty but had put it away for some reason. To find it again was a bit of serendipity, because I could now make it part of my secret celebration.

As I was skiing today, a chant came to me. It was “I can do that.” I only started skiing in my mid-fifties and was skiing today with my wife, step-daughter and a friend of hers. He didn’t use poles, and I wanted to try that. He gladly took my poles, and I had a new, wonderful experience of freedom; unencumbered by the poles. It was wonderful! It taught me new balance points and challenged me to trust my over 60-year-old legs to stay strong. I did fall – and getting up without the help of poles was another great learning. The effort reminded me of my own resurrections in life.

Today was the closing of the ski season… my first time. It was a marker I won’t soon forget; that is, of staying until the end. I celebrated with joy, with love, with appreciation, and told no one of my secret celebration with God. But I could feel my eyes twinkling as I interacted with those I was with.

It was good to be alive on this day… and to appreciate all that has happened to bring me to it. Writing this evening reflection is part of my celebration.

And I am grateful to THE ONE WHO MADE IT ALL POSSIBLE.

How did you celebrate today?
